Corki Cycles Linear Mountain Bike V-Brake Set Front and Rear 2 Pairs – 70mm Brake Pads

I am using these parts on an eBike I assembled last year. (almost 2000 miles so far)Most of the time I am working on brakes trying to get it to stop.(bike goes over 35MPH and weighs almost 250lbs with me on it)This review mainly concerns the brake arms, I will comment on the brake pads last.I am very impressed with these arms, as they are all metal, and I like the brass bushing where they pivot with nylon inserts also. The springs are nice and strong. I wish they had a better hook to hold them in place when you are replacing pads. (I’ll get to that)The arms are easy to replace, and they work very well.Now, the pads. What should have been an easy ten-minute job replacing all of this stuff turned into over an hour of frustration. I know other reviewers like the pads, but I got zero, none, nothing for stopping power. I never even rode the bike with these pads. Just pushing the bike, it had no stopping power AT ALL.I adjusted them, set the toe, set them flat against the rim, fiddled with them and nothing. Re-installed my worn out scored pads and was back to “normal”. I did clean the rim prior to installation.(Normal for me is questionable. I have tried over a dozen different brake pads, and nothing really stops this thing. But I have never had a pad that did absolutely nothing like these pads do. I even re-installed them this morning, and tried again to get some type of stopping force, and they just do nothing)Still, I’m really only interested in the brake arms, and even though I would have liked to have had a nice set of pads that actually did something, I’m not too disappointed.I mentioned the springs not staying in place. Normally I would not have cared, but with all the fiddling around with trying to get the brake pads to do something, it was annoying to have the spring sticking out while working on the brakes. Not a big deal though.I’m showing a picture of the cheap plastic arms that I replaced, and there is no comparison in quality, these are really nice brake arms.I already had new noodle holders, boots and cables, so I just replaced the arms.Since others had no trouble with the pads, I’ll just assume they don’t like me.Recommended !
